Very well written post, my friend. I'm pretty sure most people would not understand what you have written here though... is there a TLDR version in plain, 5th grade reading level English? Are you trying to say that democracy has failed and the people should govern themselves? That fact checkers are gatekeepers to the future of democracy? That corruption runs deep and humans are fickle, selfish, corrupt creatures?
"That fact checkers are gatekeepers to the future of democracy?" I'm presenting a version of the understanding of Liberalism (which I believe is shared by, eg, Habermas and was held by Karl Jaspers) which makes the straightforward claim that the vote, and thereby sovereignty of "the people" or democracy, can not be the "right preservative of all other rights" unless based on true information.
I try to take the essential issues that are genuinely most effective or rampant from the large field of possible answers to what Liberalism is which could be exploded by a discussion with the Founders (Federalist and Anti-Federalist, Jefferson and Hamilton) and many other avenues of invasion such as Rawls/Nozik &c.
I abstracted from mention of the "free press." Which is a major issue.
